The Canucks are back on the ice to continue their season post all-star break as they play host to Ryan Kesler and the Anaheim Ducks. The Canucks (26-16-3) finished off their road trip in a losing effort against the Tampa Bay Lightning a week ago and will look to avoid two straight losses against the Ducks, who currently lead the league with 68 points.
Life without Kevin Bieksa begins tonight as the defenceman underwent successful hand surgery and will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks. In his place is 21 year old Frank Corrado who now has the opportunity to showcase his talent and reliability on the defensive end.
Brad Richardson will miss his third straight game due to a lower body injury. As a result, Zack Kassian will lace the skates and will have to prove to everyone that he deserves to stay on this team. Kassian’s name has been mentioned in trade talks for the last month and according to reports, he won’t remain a Canuck post-deadline.
Ryan Miller will start his fifth consecutive game tonight. Thus far, he is 4-3 with a 1.59 GAA and a 94.7 save percentage in January. The Canucks are 1-0-2 in their season series against the Ducks.
Puck drop is set for 7pm.
